Venezuela Marked 14 years of Chávez Administration

Venezuela celebrated on Saturday 14 years of Hugo Chavez as president of the Republic, with great achievements in economic, political and social items.

On February 2, 1999, Chávez took office before the late Congress and at that moment convened a ConstituentAssembly that gave way to the Fifth Republic replacing the previous 40 years (1958-1998) of the so-called Fourth Republic.

In swearing the oath, Chavez said: I swear to God, to the country and to my people, above this dying constitution, that I will ensure and boost the democratic changes necessary so as to make the New Republic have a Constitution adjusted to the times.

In his first address to the people that spoke that day at the Paseo de los Heroes, he said: It’s the time for the Venezueklan people! Today February 2, 1999 it is the time for the resurrection of the nation of Simon Bolivar. We celebrate the birth of the free Venezuela, of the Bolivarian Venezuela we have dreamed.

After 14 years of administration and social programs in order to improve the quality of life of the population, are notable the achievements of the government of President Chavez in the most diverse spheres of the national life.

The first great progress deals has to do with reducing the hardships of the people, because if in 1998, household poverty in Venezuela was 43.9 percent in 2012 ended with 24 percent, according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics.

Such a reduction of 20 percent responds to social policies designed and implemented, such as the great missions that have been created.

In economy, oustands the recovery of sovereignty in the oil evidenced in the domain of the Orinoco Oil Belt, the largest oil reserve in the world.

Other objectives of this Plan are to make Venezuela a power in the economic, politic, and social aspects in the context of Latin America, the materialization of a multipolar and multicenter world and the preservation of life on the planet.
